SCUBA DIVING CLASSES
BACKGROUND: Ed Stetson is a certified & insured SCUBA Diving Instructor: NAUI 7157, PADI 13035, SSI 1604, CMAS. He was first certified as an instructor in 1980 and began teaching SCUBA diving at UC Santa Barbara that same year. In 1984, he left the university for a year and taught the Instructor Training Courses at the NAUI College in Orange County. He returned in 1985 and has been teaching there ever since. Ed is a NAUI Instructor Trainer Course Director and has organized Instructor Training Courses at both UCSB and SBCC’s Marine Diving Technology Department. He currently teaches at both UCSB and SBCC, as well as offers private diving instruction through NAUI.
UCSB SCUBA CLASSES: Available to both students and others. Classes are taught every quarter, usually beginning the 3rd and 6th weeks of each semester. Ed teaches the Monday / Wednesday sessions: Lecture 6-8 pm / Pool 8-10 pm. Minimum of 5 ocean dives. Registration: UCSB Recreation Center: 805-893-3738
PRIVATE SCUBA COURSES: Individual and small group courses. Schedules can be arranged as needed. NAUI certification. Contact Ed Stetson for details.
REFRESHER SCUBA COURSE: A lecture and pool review course for certified divers.
UCSB SCIENTIFIC DIVER COURSE: Taught before the fall and spring semesters at UCSB. Scuba Diver certification and a minimum of 12 ocean dives required prior to admission. AAUS Scientific Diver recognized. For more information, contact Eric Hessell, UCSB’s Diving Safety Officer: 805-893-4559.
